This building houses the collection of Sir Alfred Chester Beatty who was a mining engineer, (1875-1968) His collection comprises over 20 000 manuscripts, paintings, rare books, clay tablets, costumes and other objects.

The first floor of the building contains skeletons and stuffed animals that covers all of Ireland’s Fauna and includes three skeletons of the Irish Giant Deer which became extinct around 10 000 years ago.
